This website is a small public copy of the working county archive. The paper file at the issuing office remains the record.
What is online
Current notices go up first, followed by frequently requested road files, open missing-person notices, local-history indexes, and photographs with a known office file.
Not every county record has been scanned. Some files are too large, too fragile, restricted, or still in active use.
How captions are written
A caption states only what the source record supports. An unknown person remains unknown. A reported light remains a reported light. A filing date does not prove that every statement in the filing is correct.
Later copies may be clearer than the retained print and still carry less information. Copy quality and record authority are separate questions.
Records-room access
The Office of the County Clerk maintains the working card index at the courthouse in Dry Wells. The microfilm reader is unavailable. Requests should identify the record class and filing year when known.
